BUYING ON EBAY

I have just started using THIS COMPANY that REWARDS you for shopping on EBAY.  (they reward you for other things but I specifically use this program for EBAY shopping) You just log in and pull down EBAY as your choice of stores, use their link and you will get a percentage back of your purchase.  When you get $5 or more in your account they send you money via paypal.   I haven't placed it on the website until now until I had actually gotten paid from them which took a while , because most of my ebay purchases are small. (like coupons) but now I don't go to ebay without first visiting my bookmarked EBAY link that pays me! 

 

I also have PAYPAL that is linked to my Ebay account.  I get small amounts of interest from Paypal for choosing to use their money market option on my business account.  I do have to pay a fee for each transaction of rec'ving money thru paypal but at least I do earn a small percentage back.  You will find that most people that sell on EBAY prefer Paypal over any other type of payment as it is quick and cannot get lost in the mail!  :)  Paypal will allow you to fund your account thru bank account or Credit Card and will also let you choose ECHECK as an option to pay if you do not have access to a credit card.

 

  This is a new up and coming ALTERNATIVE to paypal, if you see it on an auction site and are a new member the person that you sign up thru will get an ADDITIONAL $10.  I has been featured in the WASHINGTON POST and USA today and is FDIC insured.  I am 95% sure that this company will be around for a while if it were to "catch on." In order to spread the word about this company they are offering a referral program.  You can make $10 for each referral you send to this company after creating your account.  If you would like a referral just email me and I will send you one from a freelancer, otherwise just click HERE.   AGAIN I waited until I got a check and it cleared the bank before putting a permanent link on the website. I got my check just fine (timely) and it cleared.  *note there is a small fee for requesting check rather than transfer to your bank account.  I have NO bank account linked here.

I do not have my regular bank account hooked to my paypal or ebay accounts.  I have chosen to link an ONLINE BANK ACCOUNT to these accounts, helping to keep my records straight and my other account "a bit safer" from any hackers that may be out there.   I can recommend SEVERAL different bank account but for NOW this one seems to be the best deal, with the most perks and is A BIG BANK with a GREAT REPUTATION.

SELLING ON EBAY or OTHER AUCTION SITES

• create a user name that is easy to remember!  not just for you but for others to find you, once they have bought something from you!
• you will have "sunglasses" or "new id icon"  when you start as an ebayer indicating you are NEW....these disappear in 30 days, while you are "new" you will have less people that trust you.  I suggest paying the $5.00 to have ebay verify your identity, this is a vote of reassurance for the buyers out there that you are who you say you are.  You will make this $5.00 back after listing a few auctions (see #7 below for details)
• you will have "0" feedback when you start.  I suggest making a few bids on CHEAP items (check the going going gone auctions to bid on items that don't yet have a bid or priced very low) and hopefully you will win some things to start your feedback! Feedback is very important and the more positive feedback you have the better! 
• I suggest having a separate email addy for your EBAY account.  you can get a free account here or here.  This will help to keep your ebay stuffies separate from your main account.
• I also suggest having a PO BOX so that your address is kept private.  This is not necessary but I have one and it is very helpful.  This would NOT be helpful if you cannot visit your post office regularly. 
• CREATE AN ABOUT ME PAGE:   you don't have to put any info you don't want to but if you have a story, a hobby or a niche this is a great place to tell perspective buyers about it!  You may ALSO want to include your favorite online spots (you may find a common friend) on the web.  FREELANCERS, put Freelancebyu.com link on your page for us and maybe you can offer a special goodie, discount or freebie for a fellow freelancer looking at your auctions.  We used to have a listing of freelancers that EBAY but I had so many people NOT follow the rules it was becoming too much to keep up with.  I would appreciate a link on your about me page in any case! :)
• Open an online checking account This is a great way to have a separate account for ebay and protect your current checking account funds!  You have the money directly deposited into your account from paypal and can pay your ebay fees direct from this account as well!   This bank has a great reputation & is FDIC INSURED.

OTHER ANJIE TIPS TO CONSIDER

#1  Open a PO BOX for selling and buying on auctions. I have had one for years, I just like having a separate box for my auction sales , etc........ you may not want the expense yet, my cost $30 a year.

#2  USE un-needed or un-wanted GDA'S, Freebies and wins to resell on ebay.  I have bought many items just for this purpose and done VERY WELL on them.  I have made as much as 150% profit on these.  Do a few searches on ebay under "completed" listings for "samples" you have gotten to see what I mean.

#3 I have sold "junk mail" on ebay..... well not really "junk" but coupons and discounts that come on and in my magazines and catalogs and credit cards that other people want.  good ones are : zales, limited too, dell, etc

#4  TRASH can be turned into treasure sometimes too! People will buy labels, upcs, coupons and even pepsi caps on ebay.  If you want money for these things rather than free products or rewards this can be done on ebay!

#5 MAKE YOURSELF UNIQUE: wrap in a certain style, add a small lightweight freebie (I have used an ebay sellers "sample soaps" from Alaska at one time this was a HUGE hit! made my packages smell good and people loved them.  I was buying a BAG FULL for under $6) EXAMPLE:   If you specialize in HORSE items put a "horse treat" in your package, if you specialize in kids items a good one would be a "dum dum" sucker.  This type of individulized service speaks volumes and REPEAT customers with Excellent Feedback.

#6   NO TIME TO SELL your items? get an EBAY assistant.  There are people out there that will sell your items for a percentage of the sale or profit. you can find them on ebay listed by location. 

#7  No items to sell on ebay?  BE an EBAY assistant! You can advertise your services RIGHT ON EBAY and I would also run a small ad in the local paper or community newsletter if you have one.  Make a percentage of the sales and/or profits for listing and shipping items, make sure to include your card and work on getting GREAT FEEDBACK so you can multiply your customers!
